Ford Mach-E vs Tesla Model 3 vs Tesla Model Y. If you're searching for an electric car for your garage, these are some of the best options available. The Mach-E offers an alternative to the powerhouse Tesla who has dominated the EV market. Ford's Mach-E is available in RWD or AWD, and with two different battery pack sizes, with driving range varying from 211 to 305 miles. Performance is similar to the Tesla Model Y, with an AWD 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, and a GT model at 3.5 seconds.

    We've only had our Mustang Mach E x a couple of days but so far we're loving it. Even with just the rear-wheel-drive it's pretty quick and feels solid on the road. As far as the styling, we like it overall but the nose is a little home way. I think if it had just a graphic of a front grill like the proposed GT it would greatly enhance the overall look. I'm sure some aftermarket enterprising person will figure that out and provide it

    This didn't convince me that "Tesla is King" His first attempt in the market was made from a Louts and was prone to catching on fire. Ford made a more affordable, more serviceable and generally better car for less money. Yeah, you're missin .3 inches of ground clearance and an alleged 30 miles of range You're paying $20gs less for that and you have a company that actually backs their products behind it. All of my friends with Tesla's have had nothing but issues trying to get broken parts fixed And after 2 or 3 years of ownership FORGET IT The dealer won't even take their calls. Fords round 2, round 3, round 4 Going to whip Teslas stagnant garbage

    We have a Mazda with Apple Car Play, and a Model S with the Tesla navigation and all of the infotainment stuff. Frankly I think the Tesla is superior. Press the talk button on the steering wheel and say "navigate to XYZ." It's fast and flawless. Last week it rerouted us around a big crash on I-10 automatically. Love it!

    One critique - You are using the definition of the word “efficiency” in the beginning of your video a little loosely. The Mach e is a bigger , heavier car that rides and feels like a full size 4 door sports car . The model 3 , even though I’ve only put about 400 miles in one felt very reminiscent of my fathers mid 2000’s Saturn L ( this is not a dig as a Saturn L , it was a decent car ) but after putting 400 miles in the drivers seat of both of these vehicles the Mach e is plainly a class level above the model 3 in most every category. The model three doors clank when they close instead of the thud on the ford and even though the one I drove only had 300 miles on it it had rattles everywhere and wind noise from the driver side pillar while the demo Mac is that I drove with 1300 miles on it had zero rattles zero wind noise and felt like a very refined vehicle not a new design that needed to get the bugs out.. My wife only put about half the miles on them that I did but her perception was identical she actually thought she was going to like the tesla better and it was just the opposite as far as overall ride , fit finish and overall build. Looking at the larger dimension amd especially weight of the car and the battery, the Mach e is probably actually a little more efficient in its use of energy.

      I should clarify, the model three did not have rattles everywhere but it had three significant rattles which were very annoying and speeds under 20 mph one of the dashboard and to appear to be coming from the rear strut area

      @Chris Businesses are motivated by cheap labor to maximize profits, not patriotism. They can pay slave wages over seas and probably pay lower tax rates. So it’s not an excuse on their part, it’s simply business. We live in a capitalist society where greed and money is motivation. Patriotism of normal citizens is only used to make us cannon fodder in the military to take over resources in other countries.

    Tesla is designed around electric power. The Mach E and others just take their traditional design and slap in the batteries and motor, note how high the Ford hood is. No reason for that other than to make it look similar to their ice designs.

    The 5.7" ground clearance that disappointed Jason is not dissimilar from other makes and models and actually greater than the older Mustangs. For example, ground clearance for 2018 and 2019 Mustangs were reported as 5".

    I just cancelled my first edition Ford Mustang for one simple reason. Ford supports Israel. I will not support a company that supports genocide and injustice.     Also, new Teslas come with autopilot included, which is far more consistent and reliable than Ford's current solution. Of course, with software updates, this gap could grow or narrow throughout the lifetime of the vehicles.

    I thought an electric SUV with design elements from a Mustang sounded cool. I even thought Mach-E would be a cool name. However, when Ford decided to pretend it was actually a Mustang it immediately became dead to me. It doesn't matter what name or logo Ford puts on it, or how badly they wish otherwise, that thing will never, not in the next 10 billion years, ever be a Mustang.

    I have had four Ford Fusion Hybrids as company cars and also 3+ decades of VW, Mercedes, and BMW. Nothing beats the value of my 2021 Tesla M3LR AWD. If you want something fun, buy a Ford Bronco which is going to be amazing, but the Mustang-E? Nope.

    I'm surprised that dealer network doesn't count for more in such a logic driven review. There are over 3,000 Ford dealers in the US vs 120 Tesla service centers. Neither brand is exactly renowned for reliability, so knowing there's a servicing dealer in every city you might find yourself in should count for more than .9" of ground clearance.

    Here is the thing...the Mach E has the better range in practice. According to several reviewers and direct comparisons the Tesla 3 does about 270 miles while the Mach E does about 290-300. The problem is the way Tesla does its range calculations, they are overly optimistic.

    “use the frunk as a cooler” thing is bs the drain plug is there simply to allow liquid to drain out should you spill something or need to clean it out honda said the same thing with the ridgeline trunk under the bed who has ever used it like that an actual cooler would have much more insulation properties and have the advantage of being mobile from the car

    There is no sustainable future that relies on car-culture, electric or otherwise. We need a mass transition to walkable towns, doing things at the local, human level. There is no sustainable industrial society. The only solution is to break free and live how people have lived for millennia.     Good overview, I would love to see the battery technology evolve to a 500 mile range on average. I suspect that will be coming in the next 10 years as EVs continue to evolve and the battery technology improves as well.

    I drove the Mach E and it definitely already feels dated on the inside. And there''s a weird buzzing noise like I'm under telephone wires when the car is on. The nav is pretty bad the the screen interface is barely satisfactory. It drives alright tho. Wouldn't choose it over a tesla for any possible reason, though.

    Shouldn't you be comparing the Mach-e to the model Y. Model 3 is a sedan, oh wait Ford doesn't do those anymore because they can't compete in the market place. Model 3 wins by default.

    Sadly, Tesla's aren't a great option for everyone. I live in Mississippi and we have laws against selling cars without a dealer being involved. While I can technically buy a Tesla, they can't exist here ergo - If something goes wrong I have to drive to a different state to visit a service center. I know they have the Tesla Rangers, but with the Mach E I can just drive to the nearest Ford dealer and get it fixed. It's sad. I'd own a Tesla if I could drive a couple miles to have it fixed. Oh and you get taxed extra here for owning an EV. Forget an incentive, you have to pay extra in the glorious south.

    My wife and I drove from Chino Hills l, CA to Surrey, BC with our Model S two years ago. The convenience of Tesla Superchargers cannot be matched by other electric car manufacturer.

    Thanks for the great video. I decided on the Y. As a matter of fact, I don't see Ford being able to compete with Tesla going forward. Range, efficiency, cargo, charging. The Y wins. Ford sold about 6,000 in Q1 2021. I don't think they would have sold any if they had not been subsidized. How many people going forward are going to buy a Mach e for more money than the Y, once Biden extends the ev subsidy to Tesla? The Ford goes from $5000 cheaper overall to $5000 more expensive. As a side note, the VW ID4 is probably an ok competitor to the Model 3, but it won't be getting any incentive in the US since it is manufactured in Germany. It really seems that this is the year where Tesla definitively buries it's potential competitors.

I don’t think so, so why would you pay more money for a Ford than a Tesla, Tesla is a luxury brand, Ford is not, I think Ford would have made a better decision creating this car as a Lincoln as opposed to a Ford.

    I'd have the Mustang on looks alone. The CD might be lower on the Teslas but the Model 3 is bland and the Model Y looks like a mini van.

    There is a slight Tesla bias in this video. I do like the mustang alot more over withe the drawbacks. Styling is far better and a heads-up screen. Milage is the biggest issue for me with the mustang. Would like to see the cost for each for a year.

    I stop using app a on my phone, one more thing for Google and the ccp, watching me. I used to have a ton of apps. But the intrusion in my personal business, that one that ended my use of apps, was what radio station I listen to.

    Overall a good comparison, but there is a couple things I'm not sure I can agree on. You shouldn't just blindly believe the range numbers which are given by car manufactures. There is plenty info on the internet which shows that Tesla tend to be too aggressive when they calculate their range figures, while Mach-E is more conservative with their estimated numbers; so Ford can usually drive longer than estimated range. With that being said, I still believe Testa is more efficient per kw/h of battery; the difference is just not nearly as drastic as you can see on a sheet of paper. As for the ground clearance - it's a Mustang, meaning it's supposed to be a sporty car; so I can definitely see why Ford has done that. I wish wider tire options would be more available though.

    All the emphasis on a drivers display in front of the wheel.....I drive a Citroen Xsara Picasso (old model) and love it as a useful car....They have no display in front of the wheel (since the late1990's when they were released) and I haven't missed it at all.

    I bought the Jaguar I-Pace over the Model 3 last year, main reason was the ground clearance and the I-Pace's ability to increase ground clearance for mild off use. Love the new Mustang except for the low ground clearance, The Mustang Mach-E center display is a big plus, don't need to take your eyes off the road to see your speed, as I love the HUD on the Jaguar.
